President's Week in Vail

It was quite the weekend in Vail with the presidential presence in town. Michelle Obama and her kids spent the holiday weekend skiing over President's Weekend, while I guided my private clients around those same surroundings.

Unlike most President's Weeks, I enjoyed NOT lugging my gear over to Beaver Creek. Instead, I felt Thankful to find myself teaching on home turf, in Vail.

I made the usual stops: Corona's and pizza at Mez--shout out to Jodi and Jason who still bartend at our regular hangout.

A nice stroll through Vail Village...

a much needed girls night...

and a few beats at Whisky Jacks...Since DJ Latenight stepped down, DJ DoBoi (Francis, not pictured) and DJ Bermudez have stepped up to the plate.

We danced up a storm, and worked our mid-sections through belly dance.

Cheers to Vail!

Same same, but different.

Wee Davey's Ceilidh Returns!

A winter snowboard season in Vail would not be complete without the Ceilidh--it's a silly excuse for the men (and women) to put on skirts and dance around to the tunes of bagpipes and accordions. My friend, Wee Davie, has been putting on this Scottish party for six years! So, you can imagine, we're finally starting to get these dances down! Think of square dancing--big group dances, people trotting around in circles, jigging in groups of three, stripping the willow, you get the point. Sound like fun? It totally is. Don't you just want to put on some plaid and jump in?

2010 - Sad year. No Ceilidh.

2011 - The Ceilidh Returns!

Dozens of attendees sported Scottish style kilts!

(while others welcomed other European fashions)

Thank you Davie and Jen for keeping the tradition alive and thank you to all the friends who have celebrated with us over the years!!!

Slainte Va!
