Ice Climbing Shoot in Ouray, Colorado

It was quite a sight to see the ice climbers strap on their crampons, dig in their ice axes and ascend great beautiful blue frozen waterfalls at the Ouray Ice Festival in Ouray.  Imagine staring down at 200 feet of frozen ice!  While the sport is not exactly my cup of tea, I certainly enjoyed getting a taste of the action and capturing all the fun on video.  Check out my story on VIMBY:

Ever wonder how they create the ice park?  It's pretty interesting!  My friend Allison Otto and Sam Bricker made this one for Outside TV and Outside Magazine:

I had such a blast in Ouray at the Ice Park and it was a great excuse to team up with my friend Allison!  She's goooood, isn't she!  We sure know how to have a good time: Cameras, Cameras galore!

Where to next?  Can't tell just yet, but somewhere exciting, I promise!

I love Ouray! I've been there twice and once was in the winter. Watching the ice-climbers is good fun...would love to try it one day.
